From Slaves to Soldiers

Join author Robert Geake for an illustrated talk about the 1st Rhode Island Regiment, which served with the Continental Army during the Revolutionary War.

Discover the history of the regiment, comprising African Americans and Native Americans, from its inception to its disbandment. What happened to the soldiers who survived the war? What legacy did they leave behind? Reception to follow at Historic New England’s Arnold House, 487 Great Road.
