Gamm Theatre’s 6 x 6 Event

February 6, 2017 @ 5:30 pm - 8:00 pm

Join The Gamm for 6×6, a fast-paced educational event featuring six teaching artists presenting six-minute talks on various topics. Loosely modeled on the worldwide Pecha Kucha phenomenon, 6×6 is a great opportunity to meet new people and think about a provocative topic related to the arts, education, and teaching artistry.

If you are looking to hire a teaching artist, or if you are a teaching artist wanting to meet other artist-educators, 6×6 is a great place to gather and discuss ideas.

February 6×6 theme is “inclusion” and the event will be held at the Gamm Theatre in Pawtucket. The six presenters include:

  • Rachel Balaban, coordinator for Dance for People with Parkinson’s
  • Len Cabral, international storyteller and children’s book author
  • Jeannine Chartier, Executive Director of VSA Arts Rhode Island, an organization promoting active inclusion of people with disabilities in the arts
  • Loren Spears, Executive Director of the Tomaquag Museum and published author including such publications as “Dawnland Voices, An Anthology of Indigenous Writing of New England”
  • Melodie Thompson, storyteller, special education teacher, Founding Director of Worship Arts Restoration

Valerie Tutson, Founding Member and Executive Director of the Rhode Island Black Storytellers and director of FUNDA FEST
